Traveller numbers increase

So far in 2018, 50,000 extra passengers have travelled through Jersey Airport.

In the first 9 months of  2017 1.25M passengers were welcomed through Jersey Airport, so far in 2018 1.3M travellers have already been through the terminal.

There has been a 27% increase in passengers travelling from Germany and a 21% increase in the Scottish market.

When it comes to the London routes, so far this year 600,000 passengers have used the link.

The preferred airline for travellers is still EasyJet with the largest market share of 37%, followed by British Airways and Flybe who jointly hold 22%.

There is good news when it comes to sea passengers too as we are expected to see an increase in travellers when the statistics are released later this month.

Commenting on the latest figures, Myra Shacklady from Ports of Jersey says,

“We are delighted to see our air passenger numbers continue to rise in 2018. In fact, with the exception of April, we have recorded increases every month so far… Our local market continue to take advantage of our extensive summer network of routes coupled with low-cost fares for advance booking; this has also helped to increase our volumes. If passenger numbers continue for the remainder of the year as they have done so far we are hopeful of meeting our 1.66m target for 2018”.
